Both Neshoba Central teams split a pair of games played last week in prep basketball action.

The Neshoba Central boys dropped a 55-47 loss to Leake Central and came back to beat Pontotoc 57-50. The Neshoba Central girls defeated Leake Central 48-35 and lost to Pontotoc 50-32.

Neshoba Central will be off this week for the Thanksgiving holidays. They return home Tuesday host Choctaw Central.

The Lady Warriors took control of the game in the third quarter and held on for the win.

The Lady Rockets led 22-14 at the half. They outpointed the Lady Gators 17-8 in the third quarter to seal the victory.

Hamaya Fielder led with 16 points while Veronica Williams added 12 points.





Pontotoc 50

Pontotoc went up 24-7 at the half and held on for the win.

Neshoba Central didn’t quit, outscoring Pontotoc 21-12 in the final stanza. Fielder led with 11 points.



Leake Central 55

Leake Central slipped past the Rockets in the third quarter and held off a late rally.

Neshoba Central trailed 15-7 after the first quarter. The Rockets fought back, outscoring the Gators 13-10 in the second quarter, but trailed 25-20 at the half.

Leake Central outscored the Rockets 18-12 in the third quarter and that proved to be too much to overcome. Neshoba Central outpointed the Gators 15-12 in the fourth quarter.

Coby McMillan added nine points.



Rockets 57

Pontotoc 50

Neshoba Central made its free throws, hitting 13-of-16, and that helped them slip past Pontotoc Saturday in the Leake Central tournament.

The Rockets led 17-5 after the first period. Pontotoc came back, outscoring Neshoba Central 20-10 in the second period. At the half, the Rockets led 27-25.

Both teams scored 13 points in the third quarter. Jacob McMillan would connect on 6-of-8 free throws in the final quarter as the Rockets outscored Pontotoc 17-12 and took the win.

Bryceton Spencer led with 14 points while McMillan, Coby McMillan and David Nash all scored 13 points each.
