A Choctaw Tribal School bus driver was injured in an accident on Mississippi 16 west near Black Jack Road, officials said.

“A Choctaw Tribal School bus has been in an accident in the Pearl River Community,” the Tribal school system said in a Facebook post. “The driver is injured and has been taken to Choctaw Health Center. Students on the bus have be taken to CHC, thankfully no sign of injuries, to be checked as a precaution.”

The wreck reported before 7:30 a.m. blocked the highway in both directions, according to social media reports. The bus hit a tree that had fallen in the road, according to the Tribal schools.

An ambulance left without anyone and so did a fire truck, “so hopefully that means no one was hurt,” Samuel Mingo wrote under a post about the wreck.

Traffic was stopped just east of Blackjack Road. Reports were that a tree fell and that another bus has arrived.
